It is our great pleasure to invite you to another edition of the Conference “Young Arbitration”, which will be held on April 18, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce, room 205.
This year’s edition of the Conference will be devoted to the issue of the arbitration clause and will be divided into two parts.
During the first part of the Conference, another meeting of the Young Arbitration Forum will be held. This time, in the form of a panel, we will be honored to host Richard C. Lorenzo from the law firm Hogan Lovells, Miami; Paolo Marzolini from the law firm Patocchi & Marzolini, Geneva and Dr. Marcin Olechowski from the law firm Sołtysiński Kawecki & Szlęzak, Warsaw. The panel will be moderated by Justyna Szpara from the law firm Łaszczuk & Wspólnicy. The panel will be conducted in English.
The panel will focus on the following issues:
- How much should the parties be proactive and depart from model clauses? Is it wise to do so at all? In the affirmative, under which specific circumstances?
- Multi-party arbitrations – what to take into consideration when drafting an arbitration clause in multi-party agreement or in interrelated contracts?
- Multi-tired clauses – what jurisdictional issues they may bring? After the panel, we will invite the participants for lunch.
The second part of the Conference, commencing at 1 pm, will consist of closed workshops devoted to the practical aspects of the arbitration clause. The workshops will be divided into training sessions based on case studies. These workshops will be run by Justyna Szpara from the law firm Łaszczuk & Wspólnicy and Paweł Pietkiewicz from the law firm Greenberg Traurig. The workshops will conclude with a simulation game. The workshops will be conducted in Polish.
Further, during the Conference it will be our pleasurer to announce release of the very first English issue of the Arbitration Bulletin – Young Arbitration. The Bulletin is ought to be a platform of communication for young lawyers which would allow them to share their views on arbitration, not only with the Polish arbitration community, but also with the arbitration community Europe and worldwide.
