SIDiR (1994) is a Polish association of persons and private companies (the latter can join as supporting members) providing independent engineering consulting services including: production of feasibility studies and design as well as work supervision and management of project implementation processes. SIDiR Members, i.e. independent Consulting Engineers, are required to hold excellent professional qualifications and know-how to operate on international markets. Moreover, The Statutes of SIDiR require the Members to adhere to high ethical standards consistent with the principles of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
SIDiR disseminates modern principles applicable to the organization of investment processes in Poland. The principles are originally developed and distributed by FIDIC, Phare, The World Bank, The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and The European Investment Bank (EIB). SIDiR Members adapt foreign models and solutions to the requirements of Polish legislation, including the Public Procurement Act and Construction Law. Thus, the operations carried out by SIDiR contribute to improved preparation of Polish consultants, investors and contractors for the challenges posed by the upcoming need to comply with the requirements of the European common construction industry market. Moreover, SIDiR facilitates Polish businesses’ penetration of foreign markets as equal partners rather than just suppliers of a workforce.
SIDiR, a member of The International Federation of Consultancy Engineers (FIDIC) and The European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA), comprises over 350 individual Members and 27 Member Firms, among them several leading international consultancy firms.
SIDiR’s main activities include publishing the translated into Polish FIDIC publications, the “Konsultant” SIDiR Bulletin, as well as a wide training programme. SIDiR, as a Member of the Dispute Resolution Foundation Board (DRBF), is one of the pioneers on the Polish market of amicable dispute resolution. To conclude, there is an Arbitration Court active at SIDiR.
