The Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw is the largest and best-known institution of its type in Poland and this part of Europe. It has been operating since 1 January, 1950, as an independent entity appointed for the amicable settlement of commercial disputes. Every year it deals with 400-500 cases, which is the largest number of cases for this part of Europe. It is an excellent alternative to common courts of law. The Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce is open to all commercial entities wishing to settle disputes quickly, confidentially and efficiently.
Nearly 20% of the cases heard by the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce are international in scope. Pursuant to the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards, the verdicts of the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce are enforceable in over 140 countries, signatories to the Convention.
At present, the “List of Arbitrators – Chairmen of the Boards of Arbitrators at the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce” contains 194 names of renowned Polish and foreign arbitrators. These include eminent lawyers from Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Spain, India, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland, the USA, Hungary, the UK and Italy. The national List of Mediators of the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce now numbers 106 persons.
The Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce has concluded many cooperation agreements with arbitration institutions known all over the world. It is one of the founder members of the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions, a member of the International Council of Commercial Arbitration, the European Arbitration Group at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris and the Special Committee at the UN Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva.
